Nursery Consultation

Proposal:

To lower the age range of Cuddington Community Primary School (a school within The Howard Partnership Trust), Salisbury Road, Worcester Park, Surrey, from 4 to 11 years to 2 to 11 years from Tuesday 23rd April 2019 to ensure the school meets the needs of local families.

The Trustees of the Howard Partnership Trust are consulting you on a proposal to lower the admissions age of Cuddington Community Primary School to enable us to open Nursery provision for pupils. The age-range of the school would be from 2 – 11 years of age.

Why are we proposing to lower the entry age of the children joining our school?

This proposal will ensure a consistent approach to learning for our youngest children and enable us to meet the needs of our local community in relation to early years education.

Why are we consulting now?

Consultation is part of the fast track change process for Academies.

Will the proposal have any impact on the school’s admission arrangements?

Currently we offer 30 reception places each year for local children. It is proposed that we would offer up to 52 part-time places in our Nursery provision

Please note there is no automatic right for nursery aged children to gain a reception place at the school. Parents of nursery-aged children would need to apply in the normal way for admission to the primary school via Surrey County Council’s Admission protocol.

Do the Trustees, Local Governors and staff support the proposal?

The Trustees, Local Governing Body and staff support the proposal as they believe the school community would benefit from lowering the entry age of pupils to include a Nursery provision.

What are the next stages in the process?

An information meeting will be held on Monday 7th January at 9.30 am – this will outline our proposal and give an opportunity for questions to be asked. Please email claudia.wing@cuddington.thpt.org.uk in advance to confirm your attendance.

Responses to the consultation will be received throughout the consultation period which ends at 12 noon, Friday 11th January. These will be analysed and the school will publish the outcome on its website.

How can I respond to this consultation?

Please complete the consultation response form and return to the school. Alternatively please email the school at claudia.wing@cuddington.thpt.org.uk.
