Short Poems inspired by the visit of David Mason (poet)

I wish I were a new rubber
Rubbing every mistake out.
Hunting for mistakes,
I will not be gone,
because I’m a HERO!    Dolcie

I wish I were  a grumpy monkey
I will eat a banana
when I took one bite
I will shove it in the other monkey’s face
He will say boohoo
and I will giggle all day
and hide in my den!    Maisie

I wish I were a lion eating everything in sight
I wish I were a lion, giving my teacher a fright!

If I was a lion I would be huge,
but I would have to do some poohs!    Eva

I wish I were a smelly sock
warming people’s feet.
the cold I will block,
morning to evening.
my smells you may mock,
But I am hard as a rock!    Sola

I wish I were a brick
Saying hello to Rick
not moving at all
I’m not allowed to be cool
I wish I were a brick
but cannot be kicked
I could build for the Queen
or house Mr Bean!     Arjun

I wish I were a pencil sharpener
so I could sharpen all day long
I could use it to be a writer
while I was sharpening I could sing a song!  Aidan

I wish I were a mummy
to have lots of money
so I can buy more honey
and also give it to the bear.
but I can also go where I want to go.
I wish I were a mummy to spend more money
it would be a pleasure to be a mummy
with lots of honey.                         Isla

I wish I had lots of money
so I could be a bunny
but I’m too funny.             Hajer

I wish I were a funny bunny
I would be cuddled and loved
and bundled with my family
hopping all day.            Layla

I wish I were a pencil
I could draw with a stencil
I could draw the whole world
or even a single word!
I didn’t have to walk
But I wish I could still talk!         Abigail

I wish I were a cat
lying on a mat
Catching mice and rats.
But there’s just one problem
DOGS!                               Liliana

I wish I were a bike
going on a hike
but I have found
that I’m bound
I wish my tires were soft
but now I need a doft
now who is the bunny
but wait where is Mummy?            Naomi

I wish I were a cat
who is chasing dogs.
I wish I were a cat
who is on the blog.
I wish I were a cat
starring in a drama.
I wish I were a cat
who saw a piranha.
I wish I were a cat
Who played Super Smash Bros.
I wish I were a cat
I am a cat who knows.      Anna

I wish I were an alarm clock
Life would be so cool.
Ringing whenever I want
I would totally rule!                Edith

I wish I were Mickey Mouse shoes
great to throw honey at Whinny the Pooh.
I wish I were a clown cow
and a peanut butter man
with jam and tissue.            Muhammad

I wish I were a funny and bouncy bunny
going all around the streets
hunting for some food because
me and my baby bunny are so so so hungry.
Please please help us to find some food.
But where is our mummy and daddy?                    Vicky

I wish I were a funny pencil
and jump all day long.
I would have patterns and have a good day.
I wish I were a book
with 2,000 pages
and people would read me
I wish I were a book
people buy me!                          Gabriella

I wish I were a bunny
and I can be funny
with lots of money
and have a fat tummy.
I am a little clumsy
and very fluffy.                       Nancy

I wish I were a fire phoenix
so I could learn to fly.
but when I fly I might fall and die.
but I will get back up again
I will still keep trying
so I would never die
so I could heal people.                 Noah

I enjoyed THE GREAT CHOCOPLOT and I want you to read the second book so I can tell my whole family to buy it. I would like you to read it to us before I get my hands on it. I want to be helping you instead of doing lessons in school. The last reason is that your book sounds interesting and I really want you to read it, hope you agree.

I enjoyed the Great Chocoplot so much, that your second book must be brilliant! When you came in and read us bits, I really wanted to buy it! I hope I can get both books for Christmas! When I read it, my favourite bit was when Jelly and her Gran were in the ball pit.
